Silent Movie Mondays: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde｜Monday, October 26, 2026, 7:30–9:30 PM
Vancouver Civic Theatres presents a screening of the silent-film classic Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920)!
Starring John Barrymore, the film follows a respected doctor whose experiment to separate good and evil unleashes the sinister Mr. Hyde. Barrymore’s remarkable transformation relies largely on facial expressions and body movements rather than makeup or camera tricks.
The evening features live accompaniment on the historic Wurlitzer organ, a pre-show performance by the Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band, and a post-screening discussion about silent-era special effects. A great experience for international students and working holiday participants interested in classic cinema and film history.
